- Overview
Project Dion (“the App”) is a research and testing tool designed for authorized personnel to collect breath audio samples and analyze estimated Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
2) Data We Collect
a) Microphone & Audio Data
The App requests access to your device’s microphone to record short breath samples (approximately 5 seconds). Audio is recorded in WAV format and is used solely for BAC analysis.
- Audio files are stored temporarily on your device
- Files are deleted from your device immediately after being uploaded to the backend server
- Audio recordings are transmitted securely over the internet to a cloud-hosted backend server deployed on Render for processing and model training
b) BAC Readings
Administrators manually enter BAC values obtained from certified external breathalyzer. These values are paired with breath recordings for model training purposes only.
c) App Settings
The backend server URL you configure in Settings is saved locally on your device using iOS SharedPreferences. This URL is used by the App to direct breath audio recordings and BAC data to the cloud-hosted backend on Render. While the URL string itself is stored only on your device, the audio and BAC data collected by the App is transmitted to the Render server at that address.

Backend Server URL: Connect the app to the cloud-hosted server
4) Data Sharing & Third Parties
- We do not sell or share your data with any third parties
- All data is transmitted to a cloud-hosted backed server deployed on Render. Render’s infrastructure is used solely to host the Project Dion backend.
- No data is shared with any other external service or platform
5) Data Retention
- Audio recordings are automatically deleted from your device after upload
- BAC and sample data is stored on the Render-hosted backend server and managed by the authorized administrator
- No personal identifiable information is retained by the App itself
6) Permissions Required
Microphone: Required to record breath samples for analysis
7) Children’s Policy
Project Dion is intended for use by authorized adults only in controlled testing environments. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
8) Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS to a secure cloud-hosted server on Render. Audio files are deleted from your device immediately after upload. No sensitive personal information (name, email, location, or health records) is collected by the App.
9) Important Disclaimer
Project Dion is designed for authorized controlled testing only and is not a substitute for a certified breathalyzer. Results should not be used for medical, legal, or law enforcement purposes.

11) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
